Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet “Script Jet” Black 1954

One of the first 150 Gretsch 6128 Duo Jets produced which bear the famous “Scrip Logo”. This guitar is completely in original condition including a heavily worn but still sturdy tweed case from 1954. The guitar was considered a groundbreaking innovation at Gretsch, because although it looked like a solidbody, it was constructed like a classic hollowbody, which set new standards in terms of weight, sound characteristics and handling. With its unique tone, it is reminiscent of the music of Hank Garland, the Rock’a’Billy legends Cliff Gallup of Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps or the early sounds of the Beatles, as it was one of George Harrison’s favorite instruments. Legend has it that the Duo Jet was Harrison’s first “good” guitar.
