Duesenberg Lap Steel Fairytale Goldburst

Who would have thought that a clear concept like that of a lapsteel could be improved, even revolutionised? No one, except Duesenberg! As is well known, the classic lapsteel once gave rise to the pedalsteel, in which the player can influence the pitch of individual strings by means of levers and pedals. In country music, the pedal steel is indispensable, while the lap steel, which was still the most widespread electric guitar in the 40s and 50s, now only appears in niche musical projects.
But that could be over now, because the Duesenberg Fairytale combines the best features of lap and pedal steel in one instrument: ease of use, fat sound and – thanks to the Duesenberg Multibender System – the action of levers on the string tension to create pedalsteel-typical sounds!
The Multibender is operated by the ball of the playing hand. Its mode of operation is freely configurable. Up to six levers – one per string – can be mounted. In addition, the integrated capo, which runs in a rail in the aluminium fingerboard, allows free movement in all keys without having to forego lapsteel-typical licks and riffs involving the empty strings. The Duesenberg Grand Vintage and SingleTwin Domino pickups for a fat, low-noise sound that also harmonises excellently with distortion pedals and distorting amps. And: The Duesenberg Speed-Pot tone control works with a control travel of only 70° (the usual is 180°), in order to be able to produce the typical tone swells of the Lapsteeler.
