The Martin D-28 Dreadnought, which has been built almost unchanged since 1932, is considered one of the most influential instruments in the history of music. It inspired greats such as Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Hank Williams, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Robbie Robertson, Joni Mitchell, Jerry Garcia, Kansas, Ricky Nelson, John Prine, Don McLean and contributed to the creation of the most important songs of all time with its full, concertante sound. While the back and sides of earlier models were made from Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia Nigra), Martin now primarily uses East Indian rosewood. This wood is characterized by a good balance between deep basses and a rich overtone spectrum. The spruce top, tastefully tinted, is made from carefully selected, flawless pieces. The result is a guitar that feels like an old friend the first time you play it. Its sound fulfills the promise of its mighty heritage and immediately captivates you.
