The D-42 Special is a very special instrument, limited to a total of 100 pieces. The inlay design was created by Dick Boak. Dick Boak worked at Martin for 40 years in various positions, from production to design to head of artists relations. He has also written several books about the history of Martin Guitars which are considered standard literature for fans of the acoustic guitar. Especially recommended is “Martin Guitar Masterpieces” in which Dick Boak describes over 100 exceptional and desirable Martin guitars.
Dick Boak had already designed the inlay for the pickguard 25 years ago. At that time, however, Martin was not yet technologically capable of producing such a detailed inlay. Thanks to modern laser technology, it is now possible to put the elaborate design idea into practice. The long wait was worth it, the D-42 Special looks absolutely stunning and sounds fantastic!
You can test and buy this rare D-42 from June 1st – 29th, 2024. We look forward to your visit!
